Network Marketing (also known as Multi Level Marketing) is a way of starting your own business for very little upfront cost. It is very popular with people looking for part-time, flexible working hours. You may have heard of some of network marketing companies such as Herbalife, Avon, Mary Kay, Amway and Arbonne.
You make cash through earning a commission on any products that are purchased through your link, similar to affiliate marketing. There is an opportunity for a second revenue stream by recruiting distributors, offering them the same business opportunity to sell the same products, and you receive a percentage of all their sales. The start up cost generally involves a fee to receive the business information pack and then purchasing some products as samples for people to try.
The products are usually consumable products in the health, fitness and nutrition range. This means your sole role is to sell the products and recruit new distributors. If you can get people to switch from their normal product range they will buy regularly allowing you to build up a recurring passive income.
Some people associate network marketing with a pyramid scheme which are illegal. However network marketing companies are legitimate, regulated companies which give you access to the two potential revenue streams mentioned before. It can also get you into a network of people that can support you to grow your business.
It is by no means a way of getting rich quick but if you are willing to invest the time and effort into building a client base, expanding your network and teaching others to do the same then there is the potential to supplement your income or even make a full time living from it.
